It is situated on the borders of Warwickshire, and was given by William the Conqueror to Robert de Oily, and in 1285 belonged to Ela, Countess of Warwick. The church, which is situated on rising ground in the centre of the village, is an ancient structure with a tower, dedicated to St. Peter, and has been thoroughly restored at great expense. The interior contains an antique Norman font. The Wesleyans, Primitive Methodists, Baptists, and Society of Friends, have each a chapel. There are National and British schools."
